How do I place a Free Ad?

Simply click the POST FREE AD link in the top menu of any page and follow the onscreen instructions on each page thereafter.

How do I activate my Free Ad?

On placing any Ad manually, you will receive an activation email. If you don't receive it in your email inbox within a few minutes, check your email spam box. If still not received thereafter, it is possible you entered your email address incorrectly at the time of placing your Ad. If this is the case, simply place your Ad again, ensuring your email address is 100% correct before proceeding.

If you placed your Ad via Account, your Ad will be auto-activated and will appear directly in the listings.

What happens if I select the 'DeafXYZ Ad' option?

After payment of the promotional fee, your Ad will be queued awaiting your email activation (as above). On email activation, your Ad will appear on the main page image carousel (except for Adult Ads) as well as on the city category page at the top of the listings, for the selected promotional period. After that time, your Ad will move into the general listings in that category until expiration.

What happens if I select the 'DeafXYZ Ad' option, but don't complete payment?

If you skip payment of the promotional fee, your Ad will, after email activation, simply appear as normal in the category listings until expiration.

What happens if I place an Ad in an 'Anti-Spam' category?

After payment of the placement fee, your Ad will be queued awaiting your email activation (as above). On email activation, your Ad will appear in the category listings until expiration.

What happens if I select an 'Anti-Spam' category, but don't complete payment?

If you skip payment of the placement fee, your Ad will (even if activated thereafter) simply be deleted from the listings.

Can I skip check-out and return to make a payment at a later stage?

No. If you close the check-out page and skip payment, you will need to repost your Ad again in order to select and pay for either option at that time.

What payment options do I have for placing featured promotional or anti-spam Ads?

At check-out, you can pay via PayPal, or via debit/credit card.

I thought ALL Ads were FREE! Why are some being charged for?

The majority of basic Ads are FREE. We have however found that a few categories were being abused, so by instating a small placement fee for some specific sections, we have curbed that problem.

I seem to be having a problem uploading images/photos in my Ads?

You simply need to ensure all images/photos are smaller than 1MB (1000kb) in size and in .JPG format. If larger than this or of a different file type, use any imaging software to reduce the file size and change the file type. Once done, click the Edit Ad link in your activation email (if your Ad has already been placed) and upload the smaller image/photo to your Ad again.

I cannot find my Ad onsite!

This is usually down to a few reasons:

  • The Ad has not yet been activated by yourself — it will appear in the listings after email activation.
  • The Ad was possibly placed in the incorrect section — it has been moved or possibly been deleted.
  • The Ad has been reposted multiple times on the same day in the same section — it has probably been deleted.
  • The Ad is in the admin queue as it has been reported as illegal content/spam — it will probably be deleted.
  • The Ad was placed in a Professional category but payment was not completed — it will have been deleted.

Why is there some content or photos missing from my Ad?

Rather than deleting an entire Ad, we reserve the right to remove partial content or images from any Ads (free or paid) if we feel it breaches our T&Cs. In this way, the rest of the Ad at least still remains onsite (simply with the offending bits removed). Of course, if the Ad itself is offensive or illicit in its entirety, then the whole Ad will be deleted.

How do I EDIT or DELETE my Ad?

If you placed your Ad manually, to edit or delete it at any time after activation, simply click the edit/delete link in your activation email. If you have lost or discarded this email, simply click the Edit My Ads link in the top menu bar of any page. You will be requested to enter the original email address that you used when placing the Ad. After this, you will receive an email with a list of all your live Ads, together with Edit/Delete links for each Ad. Simply click each link and follow the onscreen instructions thereafter.

If you placed your Ad via Account, simply click the Account link and find the Ad in the list that you'd like to edit or delete.

Why didn't I receive my Edit/Delete link email?

For one of two reasons — either the email address you entered (as above) was not the email originally used to place the Ad(s), or the Ad(s) have already expired and are no longer onsite.

How do I Renew or BUMP my Ad?

A few days after placing your Ad you will receive an email inviting you to RENEW your Ad, which will effectively bump it back up to the latest date within the listings. If you do choose to bump it, simply click the link within that email and follow the on-screen instructions. Ads can only be bumped using the link within that renew option email.

I need further help with renewing/editing/deleting my Ad

Click the Help button at the bottom of this page and tell us what further help you require. Be sure to include the AD# (which can be found at the top-left side of your Ad on the actual Ad page).

Can I create an account in order to maintain my Ads?

Yes, this option is now live. However, your account will not include any Ads that you placed before opening your Account, nor will it contain any Ads you place while logged out.

To maintain your manually placed Ads simply enter your email address in the Edit My Ads page (as described above) and you will receive an email with a full list of live Ads placed with that email address.

Where is the auto 'Report an Ad' button?

We used to have such a button, but as it was constantly abused, we removed it. Now, in order to report any Ad, simply click the Contact Us link at the bottom of any Ad and provide your reasons for concern (be sure to include the related Ad# in your message). Every Ad reported is thoroughly checked for spam or illicit content and is removed immediately if deemed inappropriate.

Why do I sometimes receive spam responses to my Ads?

Unfortunately, even though we have anti-spam software and country IP blocks in place for the known geographic spam units, some spammers still manage to get through. Even the biggest classified ads sites face this problem on a daily basis too. We do our best to try to keep spammers at bay, but sadly a few will still always win.

If or when you do receive spam or fake emails, if non-threatening, simply delete them. If however they are of grave concern to you, please forward the entire email and its content to us to look into for you. Although we can't always help in this regard, we will at least try.

How can I get more exposure for my Ad?

Click the Share this Page image icons on any Ad page and easily post the Ad to any Twitter, Facebook, or other social media site.

Why do my Ads sometimes appear on other sites, even though I never placed them anywhere else?

All Ads on DeafXYZ are crawled by Google (and other search engine) robots. In doing so, these robots retrieve info from all sites and share it with other sites, which is why your Ads and images might appear in search engine listings and/or on other sites.

Why am I restricted by the amount of Ads I can reply to in a day?

Due to the amount of spam messages classified ads users usually receive, this measure is simply in place to reduce mass spam replies to Ads.

Why can't I see my 'Saved' favourite Ads?

To save any Ad to your Favourites list, just click the star on the right side of the Ad in the listings. To go back and view it anytime, click the Favourites button at the top of any page. Saved Ads will however only show up in the city listing that they were posted in, i.e., if you save an Ad that was posted in the Bristol listings, you will need to select Bristol as your city in order to view that saved favourite again. The same principle applies for all saved favourite Ads in any city listing.
